It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… Mister B.o.B.

B.o.B’s claim to super-fame was the song “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams from Paramore. Now, seven years later, he has released his latest album, Ether.

The album boasts a bit of a straight-up style. The music comes in and sits right in front of you. The person delivering that music? Not so straight-up. Not so clear.

B.o.B’s new video for the track “Mr. Mister” shows a guy with more than a knack for music. He took a less serious, but still intriguing direction in making the music video.

In the video, you can see him as Mr. Clean, Mr. T, Cheech and Chong, Tupac, a Power Ranger, and many others.

Music videos are at their best when they serve a specific, pointed, and interesting purpose. This video plays on our pop culture intellect by showing B.o.B dressed as over 20 different familiar identities. It’s nostalgic, it’s interesting, it’s fun, and most of all, it’s creative.

B.o.B shows a bit more creative freedom on his new album as well. Along with the above music video, he has tapped into a more versatile style of generating music. B.o.B moved away from Atlantic Records for the first time in his career, and thus far it seems to be paying off.

To showcase this new album, B.o.B is currently on The Elements Tour, where he’ll be making a bunch of summer stops in North America. We don’t know which “mister” will show up, but we at least know where to find him.
