Close your eyes and picture the calmest, most beautiful beach you can imagine. Drink in your hand? Sun on your skin? Waves crashing nearby? Are a group of friends nearby in a convertible, patiently waiting to whisk you away to some illegitimate party in an abandoned cabin? Excellent, you’re now prepared for what Summer Heart sounds like.
You don’t have to believe us, throw on one of Summer Heart’s tracks and let him take you away. Summer Heart is the solo project of Sweden-based dream pop act David Alexander. We can only assume his music was made in prosperous attempts to keep himself warm in the Nordic weather of his homeland. His lo-fi, whimsical chords and smooth vocals feel like a sonic breath of fresh air. The songs have the nostalgic ability to reach inside your gut and pull out every memory you’ve ever had that will make you smile, or cry, depending on what he wants you to feel at the time.
After killing it on the blogosphere, circa the blog haus era (2009 to be precise), and racking up the Hype Machine love by the thousands, his music caught the ears of the NBC show Whitney, and he immediately garnered thousands of new fans.
These days, he’s still bringing his dreamy electronic pop to thousands around the world. If you need a track to start the summer off, or something that might just heat things up, his hazy, sun-bleached tracks are just what the doctor ordered.
There aren’t many bands whose name perfectly describes their sound, but Summer Heart does a great job of describing it all. Find his latest release, Yeah You, here!
