Miami is known the world over for its sultry beaches and lush nightlife scene, but when SoBe revelers want an experience with more grit and substance, they have more than enough options. Here are six clubs Miami can count on when they want a change of pace.
Do Not Sit on the Furniture
What’s in a name, anyway? In the case of Do Not Sit on the Furniture, the name says it all. Anointed “Best Dance Club” by the Miami New Times in 2015, this intimate beatnik dancehall has been packing out shows for years, mixing up a potent brew of strong talent bookings, reasonably priced drinks, and a worry-free ambience that feels distinctively more Florida than Miami.

Bardot
Bardot is not your daddy’s nightclub. Located in the Midtown/Wynwood district, this hole in the wall is easy to miss with a signless entrance from a parking lot. But you should be able to identify it by the somewhat steady stream of people pouring in and out. With plenty of seating (and most of that, comfy couches), this is a great place to link up with friends and grab one of Bardot’s noteworthy specialty cocktails or just take in the sick performance of the evening.
Treehouse Miami
Just off 23rd Street in Miami Beach, Treehouse Miami is described by Urban Daddy as a “woodsy cove of late-night mischief.” In addition to the dance floor and regular rotation of both underground and above-ground talent, there’s a nice outdoor garden where you can unwind or catch some air before the next drop.

Trade
Located at Washington Avenue in Miami Beach and masterminded by LinkMiamiRebels (click to read our interview with them), Trade is the bastion of underground EDM goodness that a city like Miami not only needs but deserves. This venue was designed, from the bars to the dance floor to the sound system, for dance.

Electric Pickle
Even if you haven’t heard of the Pickle, a lot of folks have: this fiery little spot was voted best dance club in the United States in 2013 by none other than Rolling Stone. I know, right?
Situated in Miami’s arts-centric Midtown district, this 3,500 square foot venue is broken down into two different rooms to create an intentionally intimate atmosphere for party-goers. And there’s also an outside patio if you need a quick breather in between sets.

Floyd
The recently opened Floyd Miami reimagined the former Libertine space, the first-room floor of Space, a megaclub that sprawls over 25,000 feet and walled off Libertine as a kind of “experiment” in early 2015. The experiment fizzled and failed, and when ownership of Space changed hands, the vision evolved into something with a clearer, stronger focus.
A far cry from all-night rager scene with which it was once associated, Floyd offers a well-manicured, mature, and downright jazzy experience to the public.
