Miami is known for a lot of great things: the beach, the mojitos, the Heat. Those aren’t the only great things that you should know about Miami’s though. Nightlife in Miami is one of the city’s main attractions. The club, underground, and techno scenes are all thriving. As a hotbed for music and culture, it should be no surprise that there are also a plethora of Miami record labels you should be keeping up with.

With over 70 independent Miami record labels in and around the city, we won’t be able to cover every single one you should know. Instead, here’s a few of the independents, like the newest, the “best,” and the biggest, to get you started.

Miami record labels you should know

Sweat Records

This is arguably Miami’s newest record label. Sweat Records was originally just a hub in the city’s (now) booming vinyl scene, but they are now branching out into publishing and representing artists. The expected roster is to include Las Nubes, Richie Hell, and more.

Valholla Entertainment

Valholla Entertainment miami record labelsThe Miami New Times named this record label the best of Miami in 2017, and it has certainly lived up to that even into the new year. This Miami record label was established in 2005 and has since also expanded into artist management and PR. Artists and producers signed to Valholla include Webbz, The Track Burnaz, and Pyrvmids.

Basswalk Records

Basswalk Records began in 2002 and blew up in notoriety when the record label started to book a stage for Ultra Miami’s early years. While associated with mostly electronic, the releases from this label are wide-ranging, with huge artists including Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Dubfire, Paco Osuna, Chus & Ceballos, and many, many more.
