Ron Onesti, a 30+ year veteran of the entertainment industry, has seen first-hand how important Chicago’s influence on music has been. And now, with an initial investment of $250,000, he’s going to open The Chicago Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
One of the most interesting parts about the venture is that it will not only showcase the history of the city’s music, but it will be fully experiential. Guests won’t only see pictures and memorabilia; they’ll be able to hear music, see videos, and listen to the musicians tell their own stories.
The museum will be celebrating all genres from local talent, including behind-the-scenes looks from the past. Onesti tells the Daily Herald that, “If they have a Chicago connection and a legitimate musical presence, they’ll be involved.”
An exciting piece of the story is that the Hall of Fame will also include a theater, a restaurant, and a banquet space. The possibilities for future use are endless.

The new museum will be located at 1431 West Taylor Street above the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame.
