Local alternative newsweekly the Dallas Observer is honoring local Dallas-Fort Worth music talent and the DFW music scene at their annual Dallas Observer Music Awards. Now in its 29th year, it’s the premier arbiter of music in the city.
The paper just released their list of nominees for this year and there are some amazing names on here. The marquee, of course, goes to the best album category where Bobby Sessions, Pearl Earl, Midnight Opera, The Texas Gentlemen, and T.Y.E. are nominated for their respective albums from the past year.
The best electronic artist category is also competitive this year with a field that includes Dallas native and Jukely friend Medasin.
The highlight for the local music scene though includes the ones that highlight places that have deep roots in the city, including the best record store category, best record label, best talent buyer (including Margin Walker Presents), and of course, best venue. This year between the two venue categories (more than 500 cap and less than 500 cap), there are some highlights, including Club Dada, Granada Theater, Trees, RBC, Three Links, and Bomb Factory.
For a full list of nominees, check out the official announcement here.
And if you want to attend the Dallas Observer Music Awards ceremony on December 2nd, early bird tickets are already available here.
