When you think about yoga, you probably think of strange positions, stretching muscles, and calming music or voices, but Jazmyn Burton wants to expand it. Imagine walking into a studio and everything feels like it’s just another yoga class, until Kanye West comes out of the speakers and everything changes.
Below is a piece from the July 7th class:
Burton said that, “Yoga is a very healing, uplifting, and nurturing practice that I hope adding trap music to it will encourage a more diverse body of people to participate in it.”
The class will feature an energetic vinyasa yoga flow at Mascher Space Cooperative in the South Kensington section of Philadelphia that Burton hopes will only be one stop on people’s journey.
Around ten years ago she took her first yoga class and said the experience made her “more present and mindful.” Hopefully, she’ll be able to have the same effect on a whole new generation of yogis.
