Blackheart Bar

For Austinites, Rainey Street offers a no-brainer option to go for a night on the town, but also avoid the absolute chaos that is Sixth Street. However, that option may be fading away because Rainey Street is losing one of the unique bars that make up the appeal of the neighborhood.

The last music venue standing on Rainey Street, Blackheart Bar, has announced its imminent closing. Currently the final date is set for this April. We had previously named it one of the best outdoor music venues in Austin, so considering summer and outdoor bar season is right around the corner, it’s double-y sad.

Blackheart Bar Rainey Street

Blackheart Bar has been known for its renowned whiskey and bourbon selection, as well as being an advocate for the local music scene by regularly booking local artists and bands. The venue traces a long history, beginning as a private residence back in 1889 and transitioning into its current iteration as a bar and music venue in 2012.

Want to catch a show before the venue shuts down? They’ve got events planned almost every night until closing, so go support ’em while you still can.
