Walter TV – Carpe Diem
How do I classify this? There’s elements of garage rock, psychedelic rock, and a pinch of shoegaze and surf rock. There’s also an experimental side to it throughout. It’s a fuzzy, lo-fi, good time, especially Alaska Cruisin and Graceland. A few of the songs also have a dark undertone that gives the album a good balance.
Favorite tracks: “Spring Time & Alaska Cruisin”
ODESZA – A Moment Apart
Flat earthers aren’t going to like this one… You’ll have to listen to the first track to know why, but anyway. If you don’t listen to this with a smile on your face and a hop in your step, we have nothing in common. It’s got such a vast diversity throughout it that you legit can’t get bored with all 16 tracks.
Favorite tracks: “Across The Room & Line Of Sight”
Living Colour – Shade
Their first album dropped in 1988 and if you’re into the hard rock of the time, you’re going to love this. It’s a solid record with a definitely bluesy influence that I’m digging. And when you get a lil further into the album, you’ll get an influx of rap that takes it all to another level.

Music, when done correctly, can intensely affect your emotional and physical self… that being said, this album does that. It’s by far the most out of this world album on the list this week (and even more experimental), but the further down the rabbit hole I went listening, the more I felt my pulse change. Listen to this one loud and see if it does the same for you. It’s about the journey, not the destination.

Faith Healer – Try 😉
Take all of your parents favorite vinyl, put it in a blender with a few magic mushrooms, and you’ve got Faith’s new album. It’s got the classic feel of the past, with a trippy dreamy folk vibe to it. I feel like if I saw her live, she would be staring off into the distance while singing, like she had a secret that only she knew about. Across the board, quality album.
Favorite tracks: “Sufferin’ Creature & Might as Well”
Kedr Livanskiy – Ariadna
Most of it is in Russian, so, a lot of it I can’t understand, but the best part about music is that you don’t have to. This indie electronic is haunting, could probably be the perfect soundtrack to a horror movie, and it’s got a chilly backbone that almost makes you physically cold while listening.
Favorite tracks: “Ariadna & ACDC”
Mike Stern – Trip
The title of this one has two meanings, last year Mike took a spill and broke both arms, fractured his humerus, and had some crazy nerve damage in his strumming hand. After six months, he went back to work on this album and it’s definitely a trip. It’s a jazzy instrumental (mostly) album with a few song titles that wink at his accident (Trip, Screws, Scotch Tap And Glue). Perfect background to a dinner party or soiree, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Alvvays – Antisocialites
Who hurt you Molly Rankin? This is a nice pop rock album but there’s definitely some pain in it with songs like In Undertow and Not My Baby. The hooks will catch you throughout and if you’re looking for something to dance in your bedroom to by yourself after a breakup, this is your jammy wham of the week. I do want to know who Jim is though, so if anyone knows.
Favorite tracks: “Hey & Lollipop (Ode To Jim)”

Charlotte Gainsbourg – Rest
Her first new album since 2010’s IRM is coming November 17th and this is the first taste from it. This song was co-written and composed by Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and you can hear it. Definitely wets the whistle for the full-length, featuring Paul McCartney, Owen Pallett, Connan Mockasin, SebastiAn, and more.
