Music festivals are fun, but they’ve definitely got a culture associated with them. You know that reputation, as we just came through Coachella after all, the festival that spawned these stereotypes. That reputation is often unfair. There are many festivals that aren’t like that at all. Take the Candler Park Music and Food Festival in Atlanta.

As a grumpy old man, it takes a lot convince me something is worth leaving my couch for. But this festival hits all the right notes. First, this festival’s chosen genre is all about alternative blues. Yeah, that’s right. Sway to the blues with me.

Some highlights include Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Matisyahu, The Motet, Railroad Earth, and a personal favorite Lake Street Dive.

Second,”music and food” is right there in the title. If there’s delicious food, I’m there yesterday. In case just the prospect of food isn’t tempting enough, know that there are artisan grilled cheeses, BBQ, “imaginative” frankfurters, and roti rolls.

They’re also doing a 5k charity run through Candler Park, Freedom Park, and Little 5 Points on Saturday June 3rd. I know that sounds a bit like a drag, but hear me out. For finishing, you get a breakfast beer! Taste the cool sweet flavor of victory.

Candler Park Music and Food Festival will take place on Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd in Candler Park in Atlanta. For more information and tickets, click here.
