Some places in Los Angeles evoke nostalgia. That feeling of living in southern California during the golden age of film. I mean, wasn’t that the whole premise that La La Land was built around? And that movie was nominated for an Oscar! (It didn’t… ahem… win though…)
Of course, those places tend to only exist in our collective imagination. Reality hits you over the head with that one pretty quickly. Except at The Hotel Cafe.
Yes, The Hotel Cafe is one of those small pockets of L.A. that really does capture that sweet spot of intimate atmosphere and it’s the perfect place for music. In fact, the venue’s calling card is finding and showcasing singer-songwriters right before they make it big.
It’s gotten rave reviews about the acts they get on their stage, they have a particular mystique because you can only find it through an alleyway entrance, and it also has a bit of a reputation as being a place where you might see a celebrity anonymously turn up.
So wander down that alley, grab a drink, cozy up in a booth, and let the music wash over you. Be content in the knowledge that you’re definitely in one of the coolest places in L.A.
If you’re ready to experience it, this Saturday’s act is someone we’ve already highlighted. Los Angeles will be the last stop on future soul up-and-comer Josh Jacobson‘s First Light tour and he’ll be stopping by The Hotel Cafe.
